Happy Tuesday, it’s gonna be golden!

This week, the Iowa-based husband-and-wife blues duo Joe and Vicki Price return to Ames for a show at Alluvial. Their shows are always a solid bet for music seekers.

Also this week, the Newsies are on strike, Hoggatt School is located, Alluvial finds a Funny Bunny, the Anderson Sculpture Garden is Bee-utiful, Raiders of the Lost Ark turns 45 and Ocean’s Eleven turns 25.

🎭 Story Theater Company Presents Disney’s Newsies JR.
7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Ames City Auditorium — Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, when powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys’ expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Ames Community Theater — Based on the 1984 movie, big-city teen Ren McCormack finds himself out of place in a rural town where rock music and dancing is banned. He is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school but wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the preacher’s daughter. This musical, which closes ACTORS’ 70th season, is already sold out, but you can join a wait list in case tickets ($25) become available.

🐝 Bee-utiful Blooms: Exploring the Anderson Sculpture Garden with Dr. Katherine Kral O’Brien
Noon, Anderson Sculpture Garden — Celebrate National Pollinator Week early with a guided stroll through the Anderson Sculpture Garden’s New Perennial Movement Garden with Dr. Katherine Kral O’Brien of the ISU Department of Natural Resource and Ecology. Explore the beautiful seasonal blooms that attract bees, butterflies and other essential pollinators while discovering the art and sculpture that share their space. (Free)

🎥 Echoes of Resilience: LGBTQ+ Experiences in the U.S. — The Celluloid Closet
6 p.m., Ames Public Library — Celebrate the resilience of LGBTQ+ Americans with a film and discussion series putting interpersonal, intergenerational and LGBTQ+ experiences in historical context. The Celluloid Closet surveys “the various Hollywood screen depictions of homosexuals and the attitudes behind them throughout the history of North American film.” (Free)

🏫 A Great Detective Story: Finding Hoggatt School
2 p.m., Hoggatt School, 18th Street and Burnett Avenue — After use as a school, Hoggatt was moved several times and eventually incorporated into a home on 3rd Street. In 1980 the homeowner donated it to Ames Heritage Association. Learn more about the rediscovery of the schoolhouse and its restoration. (Free)

🎥 Raiders of the Lost Ark 45th Anniversary
2:30 p.m., Movies 12 — In 1936, archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is tasked by Army Intelligence to help locate a legendary ancient power, the Ark of Covenant, before the Nazis get it first. ($11.50)

🎥 Ocean’s Eleven 25th Anniversary
