ISU president may live off-campus for first time in school history

by Kyle Werner | Staff Reporter | Published on Nov. 17, 2025

The next president of Iowa State University might not live on campus for the first time in the university’s history.

The Knoll, the 124-year-old building that’s been the home for many university presidents, might not be the home for president-elect David Cook when he begins the job in March 2026.

The home, found to have several deficiencies associated with older homes in a facility analysis conducted for the Regents, provides little living space and does not have several modern conveniences other presidential residences have.
