Ames, Set, Go!
Tuesday, March 10, 2026
Happy Tuesday!
We are heading into spring break this weekend, so the events listings depopulates like Ames itself. But there’s still some family theater, live music, history lectures and more on the calendar, such as an operatic take on Three Billy Goats Gruff and a music of the 2000s-themed bingo.
For anyone attempting the Oscar death race — watching every Academy Award nominee, which is 50 this year and the Sunday deadline approaching — Movies 12 has at least one showing of all 10 Best Picture nominees this week plus the live-action and animated shorts this weekend.
Correction: In Thursday’s newsletter, there was a story about Iowa Public Radio moving to downtown Ames. The story and the photo caption incorrectly stated it was moving to KHOI’s building, instead of KASI, where it will move in the near future. We regret the error.
